(TT) – As a doctor who has seen his fair share of appendectomies, this isn’t surprising- Trevor Noah, great comedian and host of the daily show, presented to an emergency with severe right lower quadrant tenderness.
Found to have appendicitis, the decision was made to go to surgery, emergently.
In his return, Trevor Noah shares his day in surgery, his one day off, and how evolved our healthcare system has become-sarcasm about the evolved part.
His experience is kind of funny, the way it is portrayed on Comedy Central, but something tells me he really feels some type of way about our healthcare system.
Thankfully, the surgery was successful. Listen to what he goes through. It’s actually a very funny, but there is always some truth said in jest.
Why is Our US Healthcare System so bad?
… Or do you think it’s great? Obamacare, Medicare, Medicaid- all I hear is the Charlie Brown noise whenever this comes up.
Obviously, it should be about treating people, but it always ends up being about money- the American Dream.
Signs to watch out for appendicitis:
- Right lower sided pain that doesn’t really get better. Sometimes pain meds can make it better but it usually doesn’t fully resolve.
- Loss of appetite
- Not wanting to move because of pain, which includes pain when jumping, standing or if someone taps your heels
